Responsibilities
- Assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support for residents and patients.
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates using EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems like Epic or Cerner.
- Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper documentation in medical records while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, including memory care techniques and behavioral management strategies.
- Assist with feeding procedures such as tube feeding and ensure nutritional needs are met safely and compassionately.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by following infection control protocols and assisting with catheter care and other medical procedures.
- Document all patient interactions accurately using medical terminology and ensure compliance with healthcare standards for medical documentation.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver holistic patient care in settings ranging from acute care hospitals to community-based home care programs.
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home & community care environments is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner enhances efficiency in medical documentation and patient record management.
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology supports effective communication within healthcare teams.
- Experience providing dementia, Alzheimer's, hospice, or memory care demonstrates your ability to handle complex behavioral needs compassionately.
- Proven caregiving skills in diverse settings—whether assisting with mobility or managing medication administration—are essential for success in this role.
- Working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities requires patience, adaptability, and a respectful approach to personalized care.
- Certification in basic life support (BLS) or CPR is advantageous but not mandatory; ongoing training opportunities are available to enhance your skills.
