Senior Software Engineer, Asynchronous Processing

This position centers on building the systems that keep large scale platforms responsive and resilient. You will focus on the core services that handle asynchronous workloads, message delivery, and event driven processing. The work blends deep technical ownership with collaborative problem solving and offers the chance to influence how engineering teams design, run, and scale their background workloads.

About The Role
You will help create a clear and reliable path for teams that depend on asynchronous execution. Your work will support a wide range of product use cases that require predictable message flow, smooth scaling, and dependable service behavior. This role is suited for an engineer who enjoys working on distributed systems, queueing models, and the design of highly available platforms.

What You Will Do

• Develop a strong understanding of technical needs across the organization and translate those insights into queueing primitives that support long term platform goals while offering practical value to product teams.
• Build and improve software that strengthens the availability, scalability, latency, and throughput of asynchronous and message processing services.
• Create systems and processes that support highly available applications with special emphasis on asynchronous execution and background workloads.
• Use technologies such as Python, AWS, and Kubernetes while working extensively with messaging tools such as Apache Pulsar, Amazon SQS, and Kafka.
• Engage in active collaboration with engineering teams and contribute to a culture that values strong design practices and careful technical review.
• Support other engineers through mentoring and pairing with a focus on performance, resilient architecture, automated recovery, configuration as code, and thoughtful defensive programming.
• Take part in on call rotations with a commitment to resolving issues at the root, preventing recurrence, and reducing alert noise.

Who You Are

• Degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Five or more years of experience operating and scaling complex distributed systems.
• Background working in cloud native environments.
• Professional experience developing applications in Python.
• Deep expertise with asynchronous processing systems and message queues such as SQS, Kafka, and Apache Pulsar.
• Strong understanding of Linux and the networking stack and the ability to confidently administer and debug production systems.
• Calm, effective problem solver during service disruptions with the ability to guide failures toward clear root cause analysis and long term prevention.
• Genuine interest in exploring emerging AI tools and finding responsible ways to use them to improve engineering workflows and decision making.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working on distributed platforms, shaping the behavioral patterns of asynchronous services, and building the foundation that enables teams to run reliable and scalable systems.
