Role Summary
The Staff Accountant will support the Controller in managing daily accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance. This role ensures accurate financial data, supports audits, improves processes, and contributes to the company's long-term financial health. Additionally, the Staff Accountant will work closely with each of the Division General Managers and the Sales team to drive performance improvement and support their daily operations.
This role must successfully complete multiple tasks in accordance with strict deadlines in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.
- Perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries and reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax filings, and regulatory requirements.
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and analysis.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying trends and variances.
- Develop and implement financial controls and process improvements.
- Partner with operations and field teams to track costs, improve efficiency, and support financial decision-making.
- Serves as a backup for payroll processing.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or equivalent)
- Intermediate skill in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative, and to function effectively without continuous direction.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
Experience
- 2-4 years experience in full cycle accounting, preferably in service, logistics, or construction-related industries.
- Experience in paperless accounting process would be an asset.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
Working Conditions

- Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for extended periods.
- Lifting and carrying files, boxes, or office supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
Travel
- Occasional visits to field operations, including walking in outdoor environments, construction sites, or uneven terrain.
- Ability to travel between company sites as needed.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50, $55,000.00 per year
