The right candidate for this position is someone with extensive experience in Safety who will support our projects. This person will constantly be responsible for successfully integrating safety initiatives into the functional operation of the different projects by maintaining processes and procedures to prevent injuries and violations of the law or company policies and minimize the environmental impact of our operations.
About The Role
The Fabrication Shop Accountant – Trinity Division is a pivotal role within the Accounting/Finance SG&A department. This full-time, salaried position requires a skilled accounting professional with at least 5+ years of experience who is passionate about ensuring accurate financial reporting and supporting operations in a dynamic fabrication shop setting. The role involves handling a variety of accounting functions, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and contributing to the financial success of the Trinity Division.
What You'll Do
- Accounts Payable
- Review, code, and approve all non-project-related invoices; ensure accurate GL coding and proper documentation.
- Oversee AP Specialist entries in Viewpoint (VP), and review and post batches.
- Process AP check runs including check printing, reporting, and positive pay file, if required.
Accounts Receivable
- Oversee customer billing, including generating and submitting invoices with supporting documentation (BOLs, freight invoices, lien waivers, etc.).
- Record and post customer invoices in AR log, Viewpoint, and related systems.
- Monitor customer ACH payments and process deposits.
- Reconcile billed vs. shipped loads and maintain custom databases.
- Publish weekly AR Receivables reports and cash collections to CFO and President.
- Support AR month-end close and maintain accurate customer records.
- Assist Project Managers and customers with billing inquiries, collections, and reporting requirements.
Job Costing & Project Accounting
- Review and approve all project-related vendor invoices.
- . Review internal shipping log updated by logistics to monitor shop loads, buyout orders, and vendor receipts.
- Manage job set-up and cost analysis (JCA files) for industrial and commercial projects.
- Create and update Estimated Value Report Master files for unit price projects.
- Review shop drawings for billing implications and ensure accurate unit price categorization.
- Process weekly payroll imports to Viewpoint Job Cost.
- Track and record change orders.
- Assist Project Managers with contract updates.
- Conduct monthly Work in Progress (WIP) analysis and post journal entries.
- Close completed jobs in Viewpoint, Tekla, Patriot Link Portal, and Payroll system.
- Maintain accurate reporting of backlog, projected billings, and stock usage.
- Lead quarterly Project Closeout Meetings with Sales, Estimating, Project Management, and Operations.
General & Administrative
- Manage AP Specialist and provide backup for other support roles as needed.
- Act as Viewpoint Administrator and provide oversight for shop administration and maintenance-related purchasing.
- Coordinate daily office operations, including mail distribution and supply ordering.
- Support annual external audits and year-end close.
Provide financial reporting and insights to CFO, President, and other stakeholders
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in accounting or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with great attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Exceptional communication skills in English, both verbal and written, to collaborate with various teams and stakeholders.
- Experience in a fabrication shop, manufacturing, or industrial environment is a plus.
