Job Summary
Renew Residential Services is seeking a compassionate and motivated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide quality care and meaningful support to individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or health-related challenges. In this essential role, you will help residents live as independently as possible while ensuring their safety, comfort, and overall well-being.
You will play an important part in creating a positive, supportive environment where individuals can grow physically, emotionally, and socially. This position offers the rewarding opportunity to make a real, lasting difference in the lives of the people you support each day.
Duties
- Assist the clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
- Support clients during meals by preparing nutritious food, assisting with eating as needed, and maintaining a clean dining environment
- Assist the clients in mobility
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident's needs, including dementia care, Alzheimer's care, autism support, and memory care strategies
- Engage clients in social activities and community outings to promote socialization and mental stimulation
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties such as cleaning resident areas and laundry
- Document clients progress through detailed notes on patient observation, behavior changes, and care provided
- Collaborate with team members, Supervisors and administrators
- Follow all safety protocols including first aid procedures, CPR certification requirements, and emergency response plans
Requirements
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes or home & community care settings is highly preferred
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training are a plus
- Experience with medication administration and care plan implementation is desirable
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts; physical stamina for long shifts is essential
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work compassionately with people with disabilities or age-related conditions such as dementia or Alzheimer's disease
- Familiarity with working within HIPAA guidelines to protect patient privacy and confidentiality
- Valid driver's license may be required for community outings or transportation assistance for full time day shift
- A caring attitude combined with patience, flexibility, and excellent communication skills
