Direct Support Professional

Job Summary

Renew Residential Services is seeking a compassionate and motivated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide quality care and meaningful support to individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or health-related challenges. In this essential role, you will help residents live as independently as possible while ensuring their safety, comfort, and overall well-being.

Duties

• Assist the clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
• Support clients during meals by preparing nutritious food, assisting with eating as needed, and maintaining a clean dining environment
• Assist the clients in mobility
• Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident's needs, including dementia care, Alzheimer's care, autism support, and memory care strategies
• Engage clients in social activities and community outings to promote socialization and mental stimulation
• Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties such as cleaning resident areas and laundry
• Document clients progress through detailed notes on patient observation, behavior changes, and care provided
• Collaborate with team members, Supervisors and administrators
• Follow all safety protocols including first aid procedures, CPR certification requirements, and emergency response plans

Requirements

• Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes or home & community care settings is highly preferred
• Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training are a plus
• Experience with medication administration and care plan implementation is desirable
• Ability to lift heavy objects safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts; physical stamina for long shifts is essential
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work compassionately with people with disabilities or age-related conditions such as dementia or Alzheimer's disease
• Familiarity with working within HIPAA guidelines to protect patient privacy and confidentiality
• Valid driver's license may be required for community outings or transportation assistance for full time day shift
• A caring attitude combined with patience, flexibility, and excellent communication skills
