OVERVIEW

Cooke & Associates is seeking a highly motivated, operationally focused Resource Officer – Critical Sites to support day-to-day security operations at a corporate campus in Long Beach, California. This role is designed for an experienced security professional who operates proactively within a corporate environment, balancing operational readiness with discretion and professionalism. The Resource Officer will serve as an embedded member of the client's security team, supporting incident response, patrol operations, and critical site coverage. The position requires a calm, professional, and decisive individual capable of responding to dynamic situations while maintaining a polished, corporate-facing presence in a plain-clothes environment.

POSITION DETAILS:

Location: This is an onsite role based at the client's corporate campus in Long Beach, CA.

Candidates must currently live in the Long Beach area or be willing to relocate at their

own expense. No remote work or relocation assistance is available.

Schedule:       Monday through Friday, day-shift business hours,10-hour shifts. Potential for nights and

weekends based on operational needs

Duration: Initial assignment of approximately six (6) months, with potential extension up to one

year or conversion to a longer-term role based on performance and client needs.

Attire: Plain clothes, corporate-casual appearance (e.g., polos, button-down shirts)

Role Type:     Armed, Concealed carry, Plain-clothes corporate security

Compensation:  $60.00–$65.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. Overtime eligibility

subject to California State and Federal Labor Laws

Benefits: PTO, paid holidays, and 401(k) eligibility begin after successful completion of the 90-

day probationary period

POSITION SUMMARY

This position functions as an embedded, plain-clothes Resource Officer with rapid-response expectations at critical sites. The Resource Officer conducts roving patrols, responds to incidents or calls for service while armed, and provides fixed-post coverage as assigned.

The Resource Officer operates within established client protocols and Cooke & Associates policies and does not function as law enforcement. All actions must align with site-specific post orders, use-of-force guidelines, and escalation procedures.

The role requires sound judgment, situational awareness, and the ability to act decisively while remaining aligned with corporate culture and security standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·      Conduct roving patrols across the campus to deter, detect, and respond to security issues.

·      Respond to dispatched incidents or calls for service while armed and in accordance with post

orders.

·      Provide fixed-point coverage at designated locations, including standing post at access points or

roll-up gates as required.

·      Maintain assigned post coverage and operational responsibilities as directed by security

leadership.

·      Support security operations during sensitive employee separations or terminations when directed

and in coordination with leadership and HR stakeholders.

·      Coordinate with on-site security personnel as part of an integrated security team.

·      Maintain situational awareness and respond calmly and effectively under pressure.

·      Support higher-risk events with authorized backup resources when required.

·      Submit accurate activity reports and detailed incident documentation.

·      Provide limited executive protection support as needed; executive protection is not a primary

function of this role.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED

  • Prior law enforcement or military experience REQUIRED.
  • For candidates with military-only experience, operational and overseas deployment experience is REQUIRED.
  • Special Forces experience is highly desired.
  • Correctional experience is not accepted for this role.
  • Valid California Guard Card, Exposed Firearm Permit, and California CCW.
  • All permits must be valid and current at time of hire and throughout employment.
  • HR218 credentials are not accepted.
  • Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.
  • Ability to successfully complete a Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) course within the first 60 days of employment.
  • Strong judgment, situational awareness, and decision-making ability under pressure.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a plain-clothes, corporate environment.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor consistent with corporate standards.
  • Ability to integrate and function effectively as part of an established security operation.
  • Willingness to perform a range of duties, including patrol, response, and fixed-post assignments.
  • Must maintain all required licenses, permits, and certifications in active status throughout employment.
  • Subject to pre-employment and ongoing background checks, drug screening, and any client-mandated clearances.

PREFERRED

  • Tactical medicine or advanced medical training.
  • Government security clearance.
  • Prior experience in corporate or critical-site security environments.
  • Valid passport, should travel be required.

TECHNOLOGY & REPORTING EXPECTATIONS

  • Proficiency in the use of radios, smartphones, and security communication platforms.
  • Ability to use a computer for basic business functions, including email, calendar tools, and internal systems.
  • Ability to accurately complete electronic activity logs, incident reports, and required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Comfortable operating within client and Cooke & Associates reporting, communication, and incident management systems.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to conduct routine foot patrols across a multi-building campus.
  • Ability to run short distances when required to respond to incidents.
  • Ability to safely lift, carry, and handle equipment weighing 25 pounds or more.
  • Ability to safely and responsibly carry and deploy authorized equipment consistent with training and policy.

WHO THIS ROLE IS NOT FOR

This role is NOT suited for individuals seeking a passive or observational security position, or for candidates unwilling to operate within a structured corporate environment that prioritizes professionalism, discretion, and adherence to protocol. This position REQUIRES consistent engagement, situational awareness, and initiative.

It's NOT for individuals who are unmotivated, non-proactive, or unwilling to maintain an active presence. Standing idle, excessive personal phone use, lack of professional interaction, or failure to engage with the environment and those within it are NOT aligned with the expectations of this role. The Resource Officer is expected to remain alert, visible, and professionally engaged at all times as an active member of the security operation—not as a static or "warm-body" post.
