Abide Integrative Counseling Services is an integrative mental health practice serving clients across Georgia through therapy and psychiatric medication management. We provide evidence-based, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive care for adolescents and adults, with a clinical focus on anxiety, depression, trauma, mood disorders, ADHD, relationship dynamics, and life transitions.

Our providers bring extensive experience across outpatient psychiatry, community mental health, IOP/PHP programs, and private practice settings. This diverse background allows us to deliver high-quality clinical services while offering students a realistic, supportive, and structured learning environment.

As a teaching-oriented practice, we are committed to investing in the next generation of nurse practitioners. Our preceptorship program emphasizes hands-on training, collaborative supervision, ethical decision-making, and professional growth. Students gain practical outpatient psychiatry experience with guidance from knowledgeable and approachable clinical preceptors.

We are dedicated to helping emerging clinicians develop the confidence and skills needed to excel in modern mental health care.

About Our Preceptorship Program

We are accepting a limited number of PMHNP and FNP graduate-level students seeking virtual, direct clinical training in outpatient psychiatry and mental health care.
Students will gain exposure to:

• Psychiatric evaluation and medication management
• Diagnosis and treatment planning
• Psychopharmacology decision-making
• Documentation and charting in an outpatient setting
• Provider-client communication and therapeutic rapport
• GeneSight pharmacogenetic testing integration (when needed)
• Coordinated care within a multidisciplinary team

Training is supervised by our licensed psychiatric nurse practitioner for all clinical and medical-related learning, and supported by our licensed professional counselor for psychotherapy-focused hours and administrative training. Both providers are experienced, supportive, and committed to helping students grow confidently in clinical practice. Students also have access to case consultations and guidance as needed.

Responsibilities (Student Learning Activities)

• Observe and participate in psychiatric evaluations
• Assist with follow-up appointments under supervision
• Practice documentation and clinical reasoning
• Engage in case discussions and provider meetings
• Follow ethical and professional standards at all times
• Complete required program documentation for your school

This is a learning placement, not employment.

Eligibility Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a graduate NP program (PMHNP or FNP)
• School approval for off-site preceptorship
• Updated liability insurance
• Background check (if required by the school)
• Reliable internet and HIPAA-compliant environment (for virtual)
• Professionalism, communication skills, and willingness to learn
