Administrative Assistant for Debate

Provide first point of contact for people calling or visiting the debate office as well as correspondence between LU departments.
Submit and track all administrative paperwork for the debate department: requisitions, travel arrangements, P-card purchases, and expense reports.
Assist the Director in managing the operational budget.
Tracking and orienting new recruits and their parents with the admissions, financial aid and other departments
Submit and track the logistical requirements for the annual Liberty University Debate Tournament: securing rooms on 25Live, ordering awards, taking entry fees and other details.
Serve as liaison with the Graduate School for Debate's GSA (Graduate Student Assistants)
Manage the Director's office appointments and meeting schedule.
Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU's mission.
Supervise Debate's two Student Workers to include submitting forms for hire/termination as required by HR and approval of their worked hours using Workday.
QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS Education and ExperienceHigh School diploma or equivalent.
Minimum QualificationsHigh degree of competency in general computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and general computer knowledge. General office skills are also required.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to understand, speak, and write English to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
Strong organizational skills, including the ability to understand and utilize Liberty University's administrative resources, including buyLU, 25Live, Assist, Banner, Workday and InFor.
Ability to resolve issues that may arise when the Director and Assistant Directors are attending tournaments.
Assist the Director of Debate with office-related tasks essential to the day-to-day operations of the LU nationally competitive intercollegiate policy debate team of more than 30 students.
Frequently required to sit for extended periods at the computer.
Regularly required to hear and speak to effectively communicate orally.
Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs as well as travel to other campus locations via LU transit.
Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well articulated information.
Ability to understand, speak, and write English to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University to a variety of business, government and community customers and associates.
Strong organizational skills.
Computer and scheduling skills.
Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.
Required to travel to local and campus locations.
May be required to sit to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.
Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.
Regularly required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the campus.
Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.
Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.
The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled setting. It is well lighted, and the noise level is moderate. Working environment also includes facilitation of events outdoors occasionally.
