Position Overview

The Junior Accountant will support the daily operations of the Finance Department and assist in maintaining accurate financial records for the organization. This position requires strong diligence, initiative, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Bilingual Spanish English proficiency is required, as the role involves communication with field personnel and vendors whose primary language may be Spanish.

Key Responsibilities

·      Record credit card transactions in QuickBooks and reconcile all credit card accounts monthly for all companies. Work with all workers to ensure that all credit card invoices/receipts have been uploaded to Macana, the operating App.

·      Ensure that invoices/receipts are uploaded into QuickBooks for any transaction over $500.

·      Identify and report any fraudulent credit card transactions to relevant banking and finance institutions, ensuring timely investigation and reimbursement.

·      Request new or replacement credit cards when needed.

·      Support Senior Accountant with the printing and mailing of checks.

·      File and organize accounting documents, ensuring proper record-keeping (this includes but is not limited to reconciliations, checks and financials).

·      Prepare and maintain equipment inventory files for all companies (this includes vehicles, work equipment, and office equipment.

·      Assist with Payroll processing.

·      Collaborate with auditors, vendors, and internal departments to resolve discrepancies.

·      Serve as a backup for the Senior Accountant, assisting with accounting tasks and ensuring continuity of financial operations.

Experience

·      1–3 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping (experience in environmental services or field operations preferred)

·      Relevant accounting or bookkeeping experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.

·      Proficiency in QuickBooks Online

·      Microsoft Office, especially Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data entry accuracy)

·      Payroll systems, tax filings, or inventory management in QuickBooks.

Qualifications

·      Bilingual Spanish English proficiency required (written and verbal)

·      Strong analytical, organizational, and critical thinking skills

·      Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial and personnel information.

·      Ability to work independently while meeting established deadlines.

·      Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Education

·      Associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.

·      Relevant accounting or bookkeeping experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.
