Position Summary:

We are seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with strong clinical knowledge and a passion for education to serve as a Content Expert. This role is responsible for developing high-quality educational content for surgical technology professionals. The ideal candidate will create and contribute to continuing education (CE) materials, webinars, journal articles, instructional videos, and assist in revising professional practice guidelines. This role is vital in ensuring that educational resources reflect current standards, best practices, and emerging technologies in the field of surgical technology.

Job Title: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Content Expert & Education Developer

Position Type: Full-Time

Reports To: Director of Perioperative Education & Development

Key Responsibilities:

  • Educational Content Development:
  • Design and develop continuing education (CE) for surgical technologists in accordance with accreditation standards, work directly with Instructional Designer to create CE modules.
  • Create supporting materials such as quizzes, handouts, and learner assessments.
  • Journal and Article Writing:
  • Research and write evidence-based articles for publication in professional journals.
  • Contribute to editorial planning.
  • Webinar and Video Demonstration Production:
  • Develop, script, and participate in the recording of educational webinars and procedural demonstration videos.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, instructional designer, and media specialists to ensure clarity and instructional value.
  • Professional Guidelines and Standards:
  • Assist with the revision and development of clinical practice guidelines, position statements, curriculums, and text.
  • Ensure consistency with regulatory standards.
  • Additional Educational Projects:
  • Collaborate on curriculum updates, certification preparation resources, and instructional toolkits.
  • Serve as a clinical content reviewer for third-party educational content.

Qualifications:

  • Required:
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) in good standing (provide certification number)
  • Current AST member (provide member number)
  • Current Colorado DORA surgical technologist registration (provide DORA number)
  • Associate's degree in surgical technology
  • Minimum 3–5 years of current CST experience in the operating room multiple specialties.
  • Minimum 1 year demonstrated experience in writing, teaching, and/or presenting within a healthcare or academic setting.
  • Minimum 1 year experience developing CE content and working with learning management systems (LMS).

  • Preferred:

  • Bachelors in education, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with guidelines from AST

Key Skills:

  • Knowledge of surgical procedures and anatomy
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and content creation tools (e.g. Rise 360, Canva, Articulate, Camtasia, Adobe)
