The Pediatric Dental Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting pediatric dentists by providing exceptional care and comfort to young patients during dental procedures. Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited dental assistant training program.
- Certification as a Dental Assistant (CDA) or equivalent credential recognized in the United States.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification.
- Experience working with children in a healthcare or dental setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience specifically in pediatric dentistry.
- Knowledge of dental software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Additional certifications such as Radiology Certification or Infection Control Certification.
- Strong communication skills tailored to interacting with children and their families.
- Bilingual abilities to effectively communicate with diverse patient populations.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and organize dental instruments, materials, and equipment prior to patient appointments.
- Assist the pediatric dentist during examinations and dental procedures by handing instruments and providing support.
- Ensure strict adherence to infection control protocols, including sterilization of instruments and disinfection of treatment areas.
- Comfort and engage with young patients to alleviate fear and anxiety, creating a positive dental experience.
- Educate patients and their caregivers on oral hygiene techniques and post-treatment care instructions.
- Maintain accurate patient records and update charts as necessary.
