Hiring Specifications:

Education

  • Certificate, Associate's or Bachelor's degree
  • Preferred social work background

Certification

  • Mandt Certification (Relational and Technical) required upon hire
  • Valid driver's license and dependable vehicle for primarily in-district travel

Experience

  • Experience working with students with behavior disorders and/or autism
  • Experience working with students who exhibit chronic behavior concerns
  • Experience in planning and delivering professional development
  • Experience working in a diverse, urban school system
  • Experience working in intensive, individualized programs addressing specific instructional and behavioral goals

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Knowledge of/willingness to learn applied behavior analysis
    • Ability to work effectively, cooperatively, and respectfully with staff, parents, and community members regardless of race, creed, color, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnic/national origin, religion, marital status, age, socio-economic status, or disability
  • Demonstrated record of commitment and sensitivity to affirmative action, equal opportunity, and human rights

  • Demonstrated experience as a self-starter
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Good organizational skills
    • Ability to recognize sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to demonstrate effective skills in group facilitation, managing teams/groups, organizational dynamics, and consensus building.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, to a broad range of audiences.

  • Ability to organize and maintain accurate records of program activities, logs, and prepare reports.

  • Possess an understanding and willingness to support students with challenging behavioral needs
  • Demonstrate the capabilities of taking specific directions, carrying out those directions, and providing feedback to supervisors on the success and outcomes
  • Capable and proficient in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, students' parents, colleagues, and supervisors
  • Accepting of professional, objective performance feedback with the ability to reflect and modify actions as needed to better support students

Technology Requirements

  • Basic computer skills (computer navigation, email, web browser, Employee Portal)
  • Intermediate computer skills (Google Suites, search function, student information systems, basic Promethean)
  • High computer skills (familiarity with Education Tech Tools, Informational systems specific to the position
  • Ability to reach all skill levels listed, if not already acquired

  • N/A

  • Students and families
  • All district personnel

Job Duties:

  • Learn and implement new information
  • Implement behavior intervention plans and/or safety plans
  • Coach and train adults on behavior interventions
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure positive learning environments for students
  • Provide individual support to students (this may include assistance with grooming, healthcare, mobility, physical/verbal aggression, token economies, and reinforcement)
  • Provide program support as needed
  • Conduct preference assessments
  • Ability to implement PBIS
  • Ability to de-escalate students who are in crisis and/or approaching crisis
  • Understanding of the Mandt Crisis Cycle
  • Communicate in a clear and positive manner
  • Builds positive relationships with students and staff
  • Collect various forms of data
  • Maintain strict confidentiality
  • Follows and promotes the Mandt philosophy
  • Attends all meetings, as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned
