Job Summary
Hudson Pet Hospital our goal has always been to assemble a veterinary health care team committed to providing exceptional care for our patients and to create a positive experience for our clients. We are a family-owned clinic (for over 15 years) located in Hudson, WI, with a focus on small animals.
We are seeking a full-time (preferred) or part-time Veterinary Technician (certification not required) to join our practice. Our ideal candidate would have excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task. Able to work independently and in a team environment as well as venipuncture proficiency is a must. Prior veterinary technician experience is required, we are not looking for veterinary assistants at this time.
Clinic hours are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 8am-5pm, and Tuesday 8am-6pm
Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgeries by preparing instruments and equipment.
- Perform IV catheter placement, dental prophy, anesthesia monitoring, surgical site preparation.
- Perform routine laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis.
- Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
- Monitor animal patients' vital signs and overall health during procedures.
- Provide animal restraint during examinations and treatments to ensure safety.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic or hospital environment.
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and health maintenance.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of animal anatomy and physiology.
- Proficient in animal restraint techniques to ensure safety during examinations.
- Experience in dog handling with a focus on behavior management.
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques to maintain sterile environments during procedures.
- Previous experience as a veterinary technician is preferred but not required.
- Ability to perform laboratory tasks accurately and efficiently.
- Ability to induce, intubate, and maintain anesthesia is preferred.
