What are we looking for in a Custodian Supervisor?
As part of the Property Management team, Custodian Supervisors are responsible for keeping agency buildings, furnishings and grounds in a clean and presentable manner, performing minor maintenance functions, and maintaining a safe environment.  Coordinating the workday of other custodians and provides training to other custodians as needed.  This position has a Monday-Friday 7:00am - 4pm day shift schedule and will serve in Kennewick. Local travel throughout the workday is expected, as well as flexibility to support multiple Comprehensive Healthcare buildings, including filling in at other facilities when needed. 
Custodian Supervisor duties may include:

  • Responsible for scheduling and conducting meetings with custodial staff to refine schedules and coordinate planned work. Coordinates a weekly forecast of all custodial work assignments to be scheduled.  Coordinates and adjusts custodial workloads due to staff absences.  Schedules vacation, planned sick days and outside training hours for all custodial staff. Assigns daily work orders relating to custodial tasks.
  • Responsible for providing training and instruction to custodial staff in the performance of their duties utilizing the Custodial Training Program. 
  • Responsible for maintaining the requirements of custodial supplies, materials, tools, etc., necessary to complete projects and/or work assignments.  Secures necessary parts and materials from external sources through established procurement procedures.  Maintains an adequate inventory of all necessary cleaning and operational supplies and requisition supplies as needed.    
  • Responsible for overseeing custodial staff and routinely participates in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of the interior, exterior and furnishings of Agency buildings.  Ensures that custodial staff utilizes appropriate safety equipment, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follows procedures.  Coordinates day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork.  Maintains and applies current industry technical knowledge.  Utilizes computer software programs to prepare basic reports.  Responsible for working with staff to develop an effective, proactive team that works together to achieve department standards of productivity and efficiency.   Ensures that Safety Data Sheets are obtained and accurate records are kept on custodial chemicals used and processed through the system in the Property Management Department, ensures staff are trained in the use of chemicals. 
  • Cleans buildings and areas as assigned, to include but not limited to group rooms, conference rooms, client/resident rooms, examination rooms, lobbies, staff lounges/kitchenettes, rest rooms, elevators, stairways, hallways and food service areas.    Cleaning includes, but is not limited to dusting, polishing, mopping, washing, buffing and waxing walls, windows, doors, molding, rails, woodwork and floors. Replaces light bulbs and fluorescent fixtures and transports waste to disposal areas.
  • Safely uses and maintains assigned power equipment and hand tools to include buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, high pressure washers, high speed buffers and vacuums.
  • Strips, cleans, buffs and applies floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors; vacuums and shampoos carpets.
  • Cleans and sanitizes restrooms using established practices and procedures.  Replenishes rest room dispensers and supplies.
  •  Assures proper storage, mixing, usage and disposal of chemicals and supplies.
  • Replenishes copy machine supplies, replaces copy machine toner and transports stored paper supply to copying room as requested.
  • Coordinates the setting up of facilities and/or offices for meetings, conferences, events, etc.  This may include moving furniture, equipment, tools, etc.    
  • Locks and unlocks offices, hallway doors, buildings and gates; locks windows; checks areas for security and safety; and reports all discrepancies. 
  • Responds to custodial requests and emergencies timely and in a professional manner.  Including cleanups resulting from breakage and/or vandalism, spills, clogged drains or illness.
  • Performs grounds work to include snow and ice removal, ice melt application, lawn care/maintenance and watering and pavement cleaning. 
  • Organizes and maintains custodial equipment and equipment areas, keeping them clean and organized.  Inventories and orders supplies.
  • Maintains and performs minor maintenance and light duty repair of equipment and equipment area. 
  • Reports completed work orders timely via the computer maintenance management software.
  • Travels to other agency facilities as required.  Works evening and/or weekend shifts as requested.
