7.5 hours/Day, 10-Month Work Year with 20 additional summer work days (as needed)

Role Overview - To assist administration and provide secretarial support as needed to maintain effective school/program operation.

Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma/GED.
Three (3) years' successful administrative experience and/or training.
Accurate typing/keyboarding skills.
Demonstrated experience and skill in a variety of relevant software and electronic communication tools, including presentation, word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
Experience using Synergy (student management system) or compatible database program.
Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

Preferred Qualifications
Excellent reading, grammar and punctuation skills.
Ability to maintain an organized office environment.
Ability to receive, answer and/or relay inquiries by telephone in a courteous manner and provides the appropriate response.
Ability to communicate clearly.
Training and experience working with population relevant to the assigned school.
Working knowledge of Board of Education policies and procedures.
Familiarity with a wide variety of technology tools and their use; including Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, OneNote, Outlook, Publisher), Google Apps, iTunes, Apple App Store, videoconferencing technology, Google Suite, etc.
Familiarity with bookkeeping of school, program, and/or grant based funds.

Role Responsibilities
Administrative support to STEM & Environmental Literacy Coordinator, Fairview, STEM and Planetarium staff.
Maintain finances and bookkeeping for Fairview and Planetarium, including grants, statistical and program data, and compiling reports.
Maintain high level of confidentiality in conducting office business/assignments.
Assist with planning, organizing and facilitating materials as needed for meetings, conferences, workshops, programs and events.
Maintain purchasing/receiving of materials for Fairview, Planetarium, and STEM programming utilizing WCPS Purchasing policies/software.
Process all day trip requests and maintain Fairview/Planetarium schedule including rescheduling as necessary.
Make frequent decisions with delegated powers from STEM and Environmental Literacy Coordinator and Fairview staff.
Maintain and verify student/staff attendance using appropriate resources/programs.
Disseminate and maintain master schedule for Fairview and Planetarium programming.
Assist with parent/chaperone trainings.
Monitor transportation needs for visiting schools to Fairview and the Planetarium.
Work cooperatively with others.
Conduct written correspondence as required.
Communicate effectively with the public in giving and obtaining information, referring callers, and arranging appointments for Fairview and the Planetarium.
Provide assistance to staff and students as needed.
Apply Board of Education policies and procedures as required.
Utilize various types of office machines.
Assist in preparing Fairview and Planetarium for opening and closing of school year as needed.
Prioritize assigned tasks. Perform a variety of complex secretarial duties – independently and at the request of administration.
Demonstrate courteous and professional demeanor to all stakeholders of Washington County Public Schools.
Other duties as assigned.
