Are you a motivated individual with a keen eye for detail and a passion for keeping things moving? Our Chicago, Illinois facility is looking for a skilled Material Handler to manage the flow of goods within our bustling warehouse. This role is essential for maintaining operational efficiency and ensuring that materials are precisely where they need to be, when they need to be there. As a Material Handler, you'll be instrumental in receiving, processing, and distributing materials throughout the logistics chain.
Responsibilities:
- Receive, identify, and sort incoming materials and products, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation.
- Transport materials from receiving areas to storage locations using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other mechanical aids.
- Stage materials for production or distribution, ensuring timely delivery to the appropriate departments.
- Load and unload trucks efficiently and safely.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all company safety protocols and procedures.
- Perform routine checks on material handling equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any maintenance needs.
- Assist with inventory management by accurately counting and documenting stock levels.
- Utilize scanners and inventory management systems to track material movement.
- Adhere to strict safety guidelines, including the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Participate in team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals related to logistics and operational excellence.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Proven experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role.
- Certification and experience operating forklifts and other material handling equipment.
- Ability to stand, walk, and lift for extended periods.
- Capacity to lift up to 60 pounds independently.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures and practices.
- Familiarity with inventory control systems and scanners is advantageous.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and mechanical aptitude.
- Team-oriented with good communication skills.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
