Barista/Cashier

Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Barista to join our team in a fast-paced café environment at Second Cup Cafe, Newmarket. The ideal candidate will have a love for coffee and customer service, with the ability to create a welcoming atmosphere for our guests. As a Barista, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality beverages, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, teas, and food items according to established recipes and standards.
• Operate the Aloha POS or Micros POS systems for order processing and cash handling.
• Provide excellent customer service by engaging with customers, taking orders accurately, and addressing any inquiries or concerns.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café area, including equipment, utensils, and seating areas.
• Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and proper food handling procedures.
• Assist in inventory management by monitoring stock levels of coffee beans, supplies, and food items.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient service during peak hours.
• Utilize time management skills to handle multiple tasks effectively while maintaining quality service.

Experience

• Previous barista experience is preferred but not required; we are willing to train motivated individuals.
• Familiarity with coffee preparation techniques and equipment is a plus.
• Experience in the food industry or retail environment is beneficial.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse clientele.
• Basic math skills for cash handling and retail math tasks are essential.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $17.60 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week
