Johnstone Supply B & B Trade Distribution Centre is looking for a Full-time Warehouse Supervisor for our Afternoon Shift to join our team in London. Warehouse Supervisors oversee and direct the activities of teams on a daily basis that receive, handle/pick items and load deliveries. This role balances direct receiving activities and stock handling with team leadership duties such as training and guiding employees, developing policies and procedures to enhance receiving department activities, and maintaining inventory control and management records.

The Afternoon Warehouse Supervisor supports and coordinates operations within their department and makes key decisions regarding the receiving, warehousing, and shipping of product in a manner consistent with company service best practices, cost objectives, as well as ensuring safe operation of all material handling equipment. This leadership role also plays a key part in managing the department's workflow and promoting safety and efficiency.

Position Responsibilities:

• Supervise and coordinate unloading of inbound shipments, orderly storage of products, picking and staging of outbound shipments in accordance with the highest possible levels of quality
• Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage
• Responsible for effective cross communication between shifts
• Ensures the efficient and safe operation of all material handling equipment
• Participates in establishing work schedules and ensure that they are correctly implemented and that jobs are assigned effectively and completed properly
• Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly work area
• Thoroughly investigates and reports all safety accidents and violations in a timely manner
• Actively participates in Health and Safety initiatives including, but not limited to; the completion of workplace inspections, performing employee safety observations, providing employee safety information sessions and training, conducting incident investigations, correcting substandard acts and or conditions, commending employee health and safety performance and attending in health and safety training
• Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include: training employees; scheduling, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; conducting staff meetings; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required:

• Ability to schedule own tasks and handle all facets of assigned projects independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to perform in-depth problem solving
• Apply effective communication and motivational techniques in supervising and counseling subordinates
• Administer consistent corrective action when required.
• Familiarity with computer systems and material handling equipment is required

Education and/or Experience:

• 3 – 5 years of related Warehouse or Operations Experience work experience; or equivalent combination of educations and experience.
• Post-secondary education and/or certification is considered an asset.

Summary:

• Responsible for efficient warehouse management and oversight of all inventory and warehouse processes.
• Works with Management, Sales Support to coordinate warehouse processes including but not limited such things as shipping, receiving, inventory and local purchasing.
