Hyosung HICO is seeking to fill a Manufacturing Manager position. The ideal candidate will manage and direct the activities of the manufacturing and warehouse staff for the full range of manufacturing functions to attain production goals consistent with safety, quality, cost, delivery requirements, and customer commitments.

THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Manage all activities of the Manufacturing Team, with emphasis on maintaining positive employee relations while focusing on safety, quality, productivity, delivery, continuous improvement, and employee development
  • Lead Manufacturing Team with an emphasis on positive performance in meeting customer commitments while initiating steps to correct performance issues. Perform scheduled employee performance evaluations and develop personnel skills via training and support
  • Ensure that all Company Safety Management System (CSMS) policies are followed and manufacturing personnel operate in accordance with OSHA standards. Ensure proper accident investigations are conducted for incidents involving department personnel and implement safety program improvements as needed
  • Manage and coordinate the daily activities of manufacturing staff to ensure production, efficiency, and quality goals meet the production schedule. Supervise in accordance with Company policies and procedures
  • Manage and coordinate the warehouse team to ensure inventory control, organization, material movement, and transactions meet the production needs, cleanliness standards, and industry standards
  • Serve as a key leader in establishing the Hyosung HICO Lean Culture; lead, mentor, and empower manufacturing personnel and teams to seek out solutions to business issues utilizing Lean and other tools (such as Standard Work, Kaizen, 6S, Pull Systems, set up reduction, and DOE). Maximize efficiency of employees and materials
  • Ensure production employees receive effective and consistent training, including adequate cross training aligned with business needs. Ensure production employees are trained and qualified to support production schedule and employee development plan
  • Manage warehouse personnel to ensure accurate records are maintained and actions are taken to fully support production requirements
  • Ensure the Quality Control, 6S, Tool Control, Production Control, TPM, Quality Program and Environmental Management System procedures are being followed
  • Prepare, manage and report results as required (such as department budgets, staffing plans, and capital budgets
  • Further the goals and positive, professional image of the Company by conducting business with other Hyosung or HICO America divisions, visitors, and callers in a timely and cooperative manner
  • Maintain supply of all shop materials relating to production (i.e. tools, solvents, cleaners, safety supplies, etc.)
  • Support new projects and design development to improve manufacturability and reduce
  • Develop and implement improvement projects for both immediate and long-range strategic issues involving process control, equipment, capacity and productivity targeting quality, cost and delivery
  • Develop specifications for new equipment, support procurement, installation and commissioning
  • Oversee documentation of processes and the creation and maintenance of work instructions
  • Manage the customer order review process for manufacturing
  • In collaboration with other departments to develop technical solutions to manufacturing problems, finding solutions that are thorough, practical, and consistent with organization objectives
  • Help identify and work closely with Design Engineering on cost reduction and design for manufacturing
  • Play a leadership role in the Plant Safety
  • Understand and work under the direction of the appropriate Hyosung HICO policy and/or procedure
  • Know Hyosung HICO's Safety, Quality and Environmental Policies. Be able to fully discuss the importance of these policies and how they impact work

THE NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Support and assist the Operations Manager as needed
  • Assist in coaching and training cross functional Manufacturing Teams in data collection, problem solving and in achieving their operational goals and objectives
  • Initiate and manage special projects, with emphasis on improving quality, productivity, and safety
  • Support and make recommendations to improve Company policies and procedures
  • Prepare, manage and maintain process procedures as required
  • Conduct new employee orientations covering product, process, safety, quality and environmental information
  • Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/SPECIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, engineering or related discipline, with at least 8 years' prior experience in management and at least 5 years' experience in a leadership role in a Lean manufacturing environment, or equivalent education and experience
  • Advanced knowledge of manufacturing processes with a custom, engineered-to-order product; use of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma tools in a manufacturing environment
  • Understanding of overall functionality of MRP/ERP planning systems
  • Advanced verbal and written communications skills
  • Advanced interpersonal skills with emphasis on managing diverse work groups, coaching and utilizing positive employee relations techniques
  • Advanced computer skills, emphasizing MS Office products

  • Able to travel domestically and internationally, up to 10% of the time
  • Able to maintain relationships with diverse groups including co-workers, suppliers, and internal or external customers

  • Ability to communicate with others to complete work
  • Ability to use all applicable PPE including but not limited to hard hat, safety toe shoes, safety glasses, and gloves
