Bryant University seeks to fill a tenure-track, Associate Professor of Finance position. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, to scholarly research, and to departmental and university service. While we welcome applications from candidates in all areas of finance, we have a particular need for a candidate with research and teaching interests in Corporate Finance. Research and teaching experience that incorporates applications of Artificial Intelligence in Finance is desirable. Given the seniority of the position, the successful candidate must be willing to play a leadership role in the department through committee service, mentoring younger faculty, and visibility at events where Finance Department faculty are featured. The successful candidate will teach in our undergraduate (BSBA) and graduate business programs.

Research Data Support

Bryant subscribes to the typical databases used in financial research (e.g., CRSP, Compustat), plus a number of specialized data services in support of research on corporate governance, banking, and ESG topics. We utilize the WRDS platform at Bryant to organize these databases. Bryant also provides access to FactSet, Morningstar, and Bloomberg to support research and teaching in Finance.

Appointment
Rank is Associate Professor. Salary is commensurate with preparation, experience, demonstrated performance, and will be consistent with AACSB salary levels. The faculty appointment would commence with the start of the academic year. Candidates would be expected to apply for tenure after two to four years of full-time employment at Bryant, depending on prior experience and their research accomplishments.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses
  • Helping to enhance departmental programs and curriculum through developing and teaching new courses.
  • Advising students at all levels of the department's curriculum.
  • Assisting students with research or other relevant projects.
  • Developing and pursuing an active program of research consistent with AACSB standards.
  • Participating in appropriate service to the department, the college, and the university at large.

Qualifications

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Finance from an AACSB-International or EQUIS accredited institution. Candidates must have a demonstrated record of publications in high quality peer-reviewed journals. Research that speaks to both academic and managerial audiences is highly desirable. Candidates must have at least 5 years of teaching experience in a business school and experience teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Evidence of curricular innovation and a demonstrated commitment to service as an active member of a university community is also required. Successful candidates will also demonstrate they can design and lead new initiatives that support research and teaching, e.g., building innovative programs, authoring research grants, establishing connections with the business community and alumni, and developing new courses.

The Finance Department currently consists of ten tenured or tenure-track faculty members, six full-time non-tenure track faculty members, plus one visiting professor and several adjunct professors. Due to increasing student demand for our courses and programs, we are seeking to grow the size of the full-time Finance Department faculty. Students interested in Finance can earn concentrations in finance as part of our undergraduate degrees in business administration (BSBA) or international business (BSIB). We also offer a specialized concentration in financial services for undergraduate students and offer graduate courses in Finance as part of Master's degree programs. Bryant does not have a Ph.D. program in Finance.
