How would you contribute?
This role is a contributing member of our Airlite - Omaha team, located in Omaha, NE. As a Label Specialist you are a key to continued growth and success of Airlite. This role is responsible for setting the standard for quality label production and is responsible for precise setup, consistent operation, and expert-level troubleshooting of a state-of-the-art flexographic printing press, including 7-color ECG processes. This role is responsible for ensuring optimal print quality, color accuracy, and registration throughout production runs.
Essential Duties:
- Run a flexographic printing press to print designs and images on label substrate.
- Set up the press for each job by installing printing plates, cylinders, inks and loading substrate.
- Perform machine adjustments to ensure optimal print quality, color accuracy, and registration.
- Continuously monitor the printing process, check for defects, ensure print clarity and color accuracy, and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality throughout the run.
- Use computers to respond to work order instructions and process changes.
- Use touchscreens to verify quality settings, printing alignment, machine speeds, ink monitoring, and review machine alerts making adjustments where needed.
- Work effectively with other team members, including designers, prepress technicians, and quality control specialists, to ensure smooth operations and high-quality output.
- Troubleshoot issues such as tension, pressure, and ink distribution.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance.
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Cross train and provide support for other Label Print functions as needed.
- Meet safety and housekeeping expectations.
- Maintain company attendance standards.
- Report food safety concerns to management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Ability to successfully operate and troubleshoot flexographic printing presses, understanding machine mechanics and capabilities.
- Proficiency in handling machine components and making precise adjustments.
- Ability to use desktop or laptop computer and interactive machine screens.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This role does not have personnel supervisory responsibilities; however, this role includes working with cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization.
Education / Experience / Certifications:
- 1-3 years' experience operating flexographic presses such as BOST or Mark Andy is preferred
- FTA FIRST Level 1-2 Certification in Flexographic Printing is preferred. Must be able to perform the duties of a Packer within Airlite.
- Passing of the Munsell Hue Color Assessment with a score of 100 or less.
- Prior forklift certification or successful completion of company-provided certification after hire.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand; walk; use hand dexterity to operate office equipment including computer keyboards; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop and kneel. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level on the production floor is loud. Hearing protection is required. GMP's are required when on the production floor per SQF. Safety shoes/boots or safety shoe clips may be required for this role.
