Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Assistant/Technician to join our healthcare team. This role involves providing exceptional patient care within a fast-paced optometry clinic, supporting optometrists with clinical and administrative duties. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical office procedures, ophthalmic technology, and patient interaction, ensuring smooth clinic operations and high-quality eye care services. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment focused on improving patients' vision health.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients during intake processes, including collecting medical histories and updating records
  • Conduct visual acuity tests, intraocular pressure measurements, and other diagnostic procedures
  • Maintain aseptic techniques during examinations and procedures to ensure patient safety
  • Manage medical records accurately within EMR systems
  • Perform front desk duties including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and handling patient inquiries
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality at all times
  • Assist with billing and coding processes related to ophthalmic services when necessary

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in ophthalmology or medical office settings is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology related to the eye, and clinic procedures
  • Experience with EMR systems is advantageous
  • Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality protocols
  • Excellent patient care skills with compassionate communication abilities
  • Ability to perform clinical tasks such as vital signs measurement and basic diagnostic testing accurately
  • Familiarity front desk operations is a plus
  • Basic knowledge of medical billing and coding practices related to ophthalmic services is desirable
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification or training in ophthalmic assisting is beneficial

Pay: $ $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 9.0 – 27.0 per week
