Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Assistant/Technician to join our healthcare team. This role involves providing exceptional patient care within a fast-paced optometry clinic, supporting optometrists with clinical and administrative duties. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical office procedures, ophthalmic technology, and patient interaction, ensuring smooth clinic operations and high-quality eye care services. Responsibilities
- Assist patients during intake processes, including collecting medical histories and updating records
- Conduct visual acuity tests, intraocular pressure measurements, and other diagnostic procedures
- Maintain aseptic techniques during examinations and procedures to ensure patient safety
- Manage medical records accurately within EMR systems
- Perform front desk duties including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and handling patient inquiries
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality at all times
- Assist with billing and coding processes related to ophthalmic services when necessary
Qualifications
- Prior experience in ophthalmology or medical office settings is highly preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology related to the eye, and clinic procedures
- Experience with EMR systems is advantageous
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality protocols
- Excellent patient care skills with compassionate communication abilities
- Ability to perform clinical tasks such as vital signs measurement and basic diagnostic testing accurately
- Familiarity front desk operations is a plus
- Basic knowledge of medical billing and coding practices related to ophthalmic services is desirable
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification or training in ophthalmic assisting is beneficial

Pay: $ $18.00 per hour
