Brandeis Hebrew Academy is a Jewish Day School located in Lawrence, NY serving children in Nursery 2 through 8th grade.

We are currently seeking a Nursery 2 Assistant Teacher.

Job Responsibilities for Nursery 2 Assistant Teacher:

Support Classroom Activities

  • Assist the lead teacher in planning and conducting age-appropriate learning activities, including circle time, art projects, sensory play, and storytime.
  • Engage with children during activities to promote social, emotional, and cognitive development.

Ensure a Safe Learning Environment

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment by following health and safety guidelines.
  • Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring safety and positive interactions.

Assist with Individualized Learning

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to children, helping them build foundational skills and reinforcing positive behaviors.
  • Observe and support children who may need extra guidance or encouragement, reporting any developmental concerns to the lead teacher.

Collaborate with Team Members

  • Work closely with the lead teacher and other staff to ensure a consistent and supportive learning environment.
  • Participate in regular team meetings, contributing to curriculum ideas, classroom management strategies, and individual child assessments.

Promote Positive Behavior

  • Model positive behavior and encourage children to practice kindness, sharing, and cooperation with their peers.
  • Use age-appropriate behavior management techniques to support a respectful and inclusive classroom culture.

Assist with Daily Routines

  • Help facilitate daily routines, including snack time, lunch, bathroom breaks, and nap time.
  • Guide children in developing self-care skills, such as washing hands, putting on jackets, and cleaning up after activities.

Communicate with Families

  • Maintain a welcoming and supportive relationship with parents, providing brief updates at drop-off and pick-up times.
  • Support the lead teacher in preparing occasional reports or updates on children's progress, if requested.

Participate in Professional Development

  • Attend training sessions and workshops to stay updated on early childhood education best practices.

Apply new skills and knowledge to enhance the classroom experience and further support each child's development.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: From $21.00 per hour
