Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Programs is a senior leadership position responsible for supporting the oversight, management, and continuous improvement of MHAST programs serving individuals with mental health and substance use disorder needs. This role works closely with program managers and senior leadership to ensure effective service delivery, regulatory compliance, and high-quality program operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee MHAST program operations and ensure compliance with OMH regulations
- Supervise and support program managers in daily operations and staff oversight
- Assist with staffing schedules, interviewing, hiring, and personnel management
- Ensure program policies and procedures are implemented and updated
- Review monthly, quarterly, and annual program reports
- Monitor program budgets and participate in budget planning
- Conduct documentation reviews, compliance audits, and quality improvement activities
- Oversee incident management practices and chair the Incident Review Committee
- Collaborate with community partners, healthcare systems, law enforcement, OMH, OASAS, and other stakeholders
- Participate in senior leadership, management, and board meetings as assigned
- Support strategic planning and agency operations
- Become a Broome County 9.45 Designee and participate in the agency on-call rotation
Required Qualifications (Minimum)
- Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) with a valid New York State license
- Must meet qualifications to obtain Broome County 9.45 Designee status (LCSW license or six years of post-master's clinical experience with supervision)
- Minimum of two years of experience in program operations within a nonprofit or human services setting
- Minimum of two years of supervisory experience
- Ability to work independently and efficiently and demonstrate complex problem-solving skills
- Strong judgment and decision-making skills in the best interest of the organization
- Completion of NYS Peer Specialist modules within three months of hire
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record to operate agency vehicles
- Ability to successfully complete all required background and reference checks
- Completion of all required state and agency trainings during orientation and annually
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality

Work Schedule & Conditions
- Full-time, 40 hours per week
- Flexible schedule based on program needs
- Office, residential, and program-based settings
- Travel between MHAST locations and for client transportation
- Participation in an on-call rotation
