Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Sous Chef to assist in leading our kitchen team. As Sous Chef, you will work closely with our Executive Chef to create exceptional dishes, maintain high kitchen standards, and ensure a seamless operation. Your role will be key in managing kitchen staff, handling inventory, and supporting the creation of our ever-evolving, seasonal menu.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in overseeing kitchen operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service.
- Work alongside the Executive Chef to develop and execute seasonal menus based on locally sourced ingredients.
- Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring they adhere to food safety and quality standards.
- Ensure all dishes are prepared and presented according to our high standards.
- Manage inventory and ordering, ensuring the kitchen is stocked with fresh ingredients at all times.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.
- Collaborate with front-of-house teams to ensure excellent guest experiences.
- Contribute to menu planning, food costing, and specials based on seasonal produce and available products.
- Assist in managing kitchen prep schedules and timing to ensure consistency during service.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in a professional kitchen, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership role (Sous Chef, Line Cook Lead, or similar).
- A passion for farm-to-table cooking and an understanding of seasonal ingredients and their role in menu planning.
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards, kitchen equipment, and sanitation protocols.
- Leadership skills with the ability to motivate, train, and guide kitchen staff.
- Ability to handle a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and consistency.
- A creative approach to cooking with a focus on flavor, presentation, and sustainability.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with a team.
- Must be able to lift at least 60 pounds.
