Junta for Progressive Action is a Latin-led, multi-service nonprofit organization that has proudly served the Greater New Haven community for over 50 years. We work alongside immigrant and Latinx communities to advance social, economic, and civic well-being while honoring cultural traditions.

Position Summary

The Immigration Service Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting immigrant individuals and families by providing case management, education on immigrant rights, application support, and referrals to trusted legal and community resources. This position focuses on advocacy, accurate information sharing, and helping participants navigate complex systems in a safe and culturally responsive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct intake assessments and maintain ongoing case management
  • Provide accurate information regarding immigration processes and immigrant rights
  • Communicate with immigration-related agencies (DHS, ICE, USCIS) on behalf of clients
  • Develop care plans to connect participants to eligible benefits, services, and resources
  • Screen clients for legal representation and assist with applications when appropriate
  • Interpret and translate immigration-related correspondence and court documents (Spanish/English)
  • Inform clients of court accompaniment and safety services
  • Assist clients in navigating community resources and advocating throughout application processes
  • Provide internal referrals to programs such as adult education and youth services
  • Coordinate and participate in community outreach and immigrant rights events
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners and support networks
  • Represent Junta in meetings and activities related to the Cultural Ambassador Program at Yale Center for Clinical Investigations (YCCI), including translation support
  • Submit monthly reports outlining outcomes and services provided
  • Attend required meetings and perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Advanced bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English (required)
  • Experience in immigration services, case management, community outreach, or human services
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to build trust with diverse communities and work collaboratively
  • Knowledge of immigrant rights and community resources preferred
  • Proficiency with databases, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace
  • Passion for immigrant advocacy and social justice

Pay: $43,500.00 per year
