Job Summary:

The pharmacy technician will support pharmacists in various tasks, including accurately dispensing medications, managing inventory, and assisting patients. The pharmacy technician will collaborate with the pharmacy team to ensure seamless operations, excellent patient care, and compliance with regulatory standards.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Engages patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolves patient issues in a timely manner, assists in answering questions, and seeks additional assistance when needed.
  • Anticipates patient needs and proactively offers services to enhance positive patient outcomes.
  • Develops strong, professional relationships with patients.
  • Under the supervision of the pharmacist, assist in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with state, federal, and company policy.
  • Performs duties as assigned by the pharmacists including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring information is entered correctly, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting and pouring pharmaceutical drugs.
  • Assists pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.
  • Reports, immediately, prescription errors to pharmacist on duty and adheres to policies and procedures.
  • Responsible and accountable for registering all related sales on assigned cash register, collects and handles cash as required.
  • Handles telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist.
  • Processes claims for third party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner, and performs other clerical duties, as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy.
  • Assists and supports Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities, such as, ordering, unpacking, checking-in and storing shipment of pharmaceuticals.
  • May assist pharmacist in administering clinical services as required.
  • Assists the pharmacists in developing and maintaining good relationships with healthcare providers and staff.
  • Assists with exterior and interior maintenance by ensuring the pharmacy is stocked with adequate supplies, clean, neat and orderly in condition and appearance.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures; maintains respectful relationships with coworkers.
  • Completes special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • PTCB certification
  • Arizona Pharmacy Technician license
  • Experience performing prescription dispensing activities that demonstrate a strong working knowledge of applicable stated and federal controlled substance laws.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year experience as a pharmacy technician in a community setting including prescription filling, records and legal compliance, pharmacy operations, pharmacy software and technology systems and insurance.

Other Requirements:

  • New Hires are required to pass pre-employment background check and drug testing (effective 11/1/2022).

  • Current Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card or must pass fingerprint clearance within 7 days following hire.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Prolonged periods standing.
  • Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less).
  • Able to hear adequately to decipher spoken word, sounds, alarms, etc.
  • Able to express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word and to convey detailed spoken instructions to other workers accurately and clearly.
  • Able to use hands and fingers for fine manipulation to touch, pick, pinch, and grasp and perform repetitive motions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to navigate various departments of the organization's physical premises
