Position Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) to join our team

The APN will provide psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and ongoing care to individuals struggling with substance use disorders in our Intensive Outpatient Program and Partial Hospitalization Program. The successful candidate will be committed to delivering evidence-based medical interventions, supporting clients in their recovery journey, and promoting long-term wellness. Duties and Responsibilities:

● Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments for clients with substance use disorders.

● Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including medication-assisted treatment (MAT) when appropriate.

● Prescribe and manage medications for substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.

● Monitor client progress for potential side effects, adjusting medications and treatment plans as needed

● Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including therapists, counselors, and case managers, to ensure comprehensive care.

● Educate clients on medication adherence, withdrawal symptoms, relapse prevention, and overall health and wellness.

● Participate in case reviews, staff meetings, and training to stay current on best practices in substance use treatment and mental health care.

● Provide crisis intervention and medical stabilization when necessary.

● Ensure compliance with all facility policies, confidentiality laws (HIPAA), and state and

federal regulations.

● Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in accordance with legal and ethical

guidelines.

● Serve as a resource for staff and clients, offering guidance on medical, clinical, and psychosocial aspects of treatment.

● Assist in the development and evaluation of facility policies related to clinical care, patient safety, and treatment protocols.

Qualifications:

● Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) with specialization in Psychiatric-Mental Health,

Family Nurse Practitioner, or other relevant area.

● Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in the state of practice.

● Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or Family

Nurse Practitioner (FNP) preferred.

● DEA registration and ability to prescribe controlled substances.

Experience:

● Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a healthcare setting, with experience in substance abuse treatment or mental health care strongly preferred.

● Experience working with individuals with co-occurring mental health disorders is highly desirable.

● Familiarity with medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and harm reduction strategies. Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities (Competencies):

● In-depth understanding of the medical and psychological aspects of substance use disorders (SUDs), including knowledge of evidence-based treatment modalities and the ability to assess and manage complex cases involving co-occurring mental health conditions.

● Proficiency in prescribing and managing MAT, including medications such as methadone, buprenorphine, naltrexone, and other treatments for opioid and alcohol use disorders, ensuring appropriate medication management and monitoring for side effects.

● Strong ability to conduct comprehensive clinical assessments, evaluate mental health and physical conditions, and diagnose co-occurring disorders. Experience in managing medical detoxification, withdrawal symptoms, and stabilization.

● Ability to effectively handle medical and psychiatric crises, providing stabilization, support, and referrals as necessary. Skilled in de-escalating high-stress situations and ensuring patient safety.

● A compassionate approach to treating individuals with substance use disorders, with a focus on providing individualized, holistic care that addresses both the physical and mental health needs of clients.

● Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to educate patients and their families, explain treatment plans, and communicate effectively with a multidisciplinary team. Ability to build trust and rapport with clients in recovery.

● Strong ability to work within a multidisciplinary team, coordinating care with counselors, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive treatment plans and ensure seamless delivery of services.

● Ability to provide care to individuals from diverse backgrounds, demonstrating sensitivity and understanding toward cultural, socioeconomic, and personal factors that may affect the treatment process.

● Proficient in maintaining accurate and thorough clinical documentation in compliance with legal, ethical, and regulatory standards (e.g., HIPAA). Skilled in using electronic health record (EHR) systems for patient management and progress tracking

● Ability to apply clinical judgment to develop appropriate treatment plans, address emerging issues, and modify care as needed based on client progress and changes in health status.

● Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, state and federal laws regarding substance use treatment, and ethical standards for medical practice in outpatient settings.

Pay: $ $100.00 per hour
