Job Summary:

The Receiving Team Lead is responsible for overseeing daily receiving operations, including the unloading, inspection, and storage of incoming shipments, while leading and training a team of receiving material handlers. This role ensures efficient workflow, accurate inventory for inbound materials, and compliance with safety protocols to support seamless material integration into production.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Leadership:
  • Oversee and coordinate the activities of receiving material handlers to ensure efficient and accurate processing of incoming shipments.
  • Delegate tasks, monitor workflow, and provide guidance to team members.
  • Ensure team adherence to safety protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and company policies.
  • Resolve daily operational issues related to receiving and escalate complex problems to management.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment by modeling professionalism, punctuality, and respect.
  • Receiving Operations and Material Handling:
  • Manage the unloading of incoming materials and verify against purchase orders for accuracy.
  • Inspect shipments for damage, shortages, or discrepancies and report findings.
  • Ensure proper documentation, labeling, and storage of received goods in designated warehouse locations.
  • Operate material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) as needed to move incoming materials.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks and inspections on equipment to ensure proper functioning.
  • Training and Development
  • Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations to improve team performance.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through quizzes or other methods and make adjustments as needed.
  • Serve as the primary resource for answering questions from receiving team members, including vendor-specific receiving processes, to support department success.
  • Warehouse Operations
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving area within the warehouse.
  • Promote strong communication and teamwork with warehouse, purchasing, and quality control teams to support overall operations.
  • Quality and Safety:
  • Follow established procedures for handling, storing, and transporting outgoing materials.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Report any safety hazards, accidents, or incidents to supervisors or management.

Competencies:

  • Ability to understand written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with others.
  • Solid understanding of production machinery and proper assembly procedures relevant to shipping.
  • Excellent knowledge of manufacturing safety protocols and regulations.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of inventory management systems or software.
  • Experience with barcode scanning or RF scanning technology.
  • Experience with Epicor is a strong plus.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in logistics or warehousing is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or distribution environment preferred but not required.
  • Forklift certification and experience is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to lift, climb, push, and pull as needed.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
