With over 18 million board feet of inventory, we supply hardwoods, softwoods, exotics, beams, decking, pallets, and custom-cut products. We are seeking a dependable, assertive 2nd Shift Supervisor to oversee operations at our stacker. This role is responsible for supervising employees, maintaining workflow, enforcing safety and operational standards, and ensuring production goals are met during evening operations.
Lumber grading experience is a plus, but we are willing to train the right candidate. Success in this role requires confidence, decisiveness, and the ability to give clear direction and hold employees accountable. Assertiveness is a critical component of this position.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety & Compliance:
- Adhere to all OSHA and company safety regulations, including proper use of PPE
- Enforce facility traffic rules and equipment operation policies
- Ensure loads are properly secured and stacked to prevent shifting or safety hazards
- Maintain awareness of pedestrian and equipment movement to prevent incidents
- Address unsafe behavior immediately and consistently
Production Support & Efficiency:
- Supervise stacker operations to ensure steady workflow and minimal downtime
- Work closely with graders, stacker operators, and production staff to maintain efficiency
- Monitor production output, material flow, and operational performance
- Ensure work areas remain orderly, clean, and free of excess debris
- Resolve production issues promptly and escalate when necessary
Leadership, Collaboration & Communication:
- Provide clear direction to employees and ensure expectations are understood and followed
- Enforce attendance, conduct, and performance standards consistently
- Communicate effectively with management regarding staffing, performance, and operational concerns
- Assist with onboarding and training of new employees as needed
- Adapt to changing production demands and communicate workflow changes clearly
Qualifications & Skills:
Experience & Background:
- Prior supervisory or lead experience in a manufacturing, lumberyard, or industrial environment
- Lumber grading experience preferred, but not required
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred

- Strong, assertive leadership style with the ability to hold employees accountable

- Reliable, consistent, and professional demeanor
- Ability to manage people and priorities in a fast-paced production environment
- Basic proficiency with production tracking systems and Microsoft Office
Physical Requirements:
To successfully perform this job, employees must:
- Lift & Carry: Regularly lift and move lumber pieces weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Standing & Walking: Spend extended periods standing, walking, and maneuvering around equipment.
- Climbing & Stooping: Occasionally climb onto platforms or stoop to reposition layers.
- Environmental Exposure: Work in a noisy, dusty environment with varying temperatures depending on the season.
