Join our compassionate team as a day-shift Caregiver at Karen's Place and here at Karens place we take care of 5 residents and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those individuals requiring support with daily activities and personal care. In this vital role, you will provide attentive, respectful, and personalized assistance to promote independence, safety, and well-being. Whether working in a home setting, assisted living facility, or group home environment, your dedication will help create a nurturing atmosphere where clients feel valued and cared for. Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident's as needed
- Monitor and observe patients' health status by taking vital signs and noting changes in condition or behavior
- Administer medications accurately following care plans and HIPAA confidentiality standards
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary
- Maintain a clean, safe environment through regular cleaning and sanitation of living spaces
- Support patients with cognitive impairments such as Alzheimer's disease or dementia through memory care techniques and patient engagement strategies
- Document care activities thoroughly in accordance with healthcare regulations and care plans
- Provide emotional support and companionship to enhance residents' quality of life
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, social workers, and family members to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Follow safety protocols during patient transfers using proper lifting techniques and equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident's
- Assist with transportation to medical appointments or community activities when required
- Participate in training sessions on CPR, first aid, assisted living procedures, and specialized care such as hospice or autism support
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in home health, assisted living, nursing homes, group homes, or long-term care settings is highly preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques and ability to monitor vital signs accurately
- Certification in CPR and first aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training are advantageous
- Experience with Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory support, or working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is desirable
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and assist residents during transfers using proper equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident's
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and families
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to improve clients' quality of life
- Ability to follow detailed care plans while maintaining flexibility for individual needs
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in nursing assistance or social work is a plus
