Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize dental instruments following strict aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Take and develop X-ray images, ensuring proper positioning and safety measures are followed in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Manage patient flow by greeting patients, updating medical history, recording vital signs, and ensuring accurate medical documentation.
- Operate electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix to document treatment details, update medical records, and ensure data accuracy.
- Provide chairside assistance with dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical coding to support efficient treatment delivery.
- Support the dental team with administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, answering phones as a dental receptionist, and managing medical records using Epic or similar systems.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment while adhering to infection control standards and OSHA guidelines.
- Assist with advanced technology procedures including 3D scanning and medical imaging to enhance diagnostic accuracy.
- Support pediatric patients by applying specialized techniques suitable for children's comfort and understanding.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry procedures.
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry, chairside assisting, and taking vital signs.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix and decide for managing medical documentation and records.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
- Ability to operate X-ray equipment safely while maintaining infection control standards.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to dental care.
