Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients and cook menu items according to standardized recipes, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Assist in menu planning by providing input on dish presentation and ingredient selection.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, adhering to all food safety and sanitation standards.
- Handle food with care, following proper food handling procedures to prevent contamination.
- Use knife skills effectively for chopping, slicing, dicing, and other food preparation tasks.
- Support meal preparation for various service periods, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and catering events.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely service and smooth kitchen operations.
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies; communicate needs for restocking.
- Ensure all food served meets the restaurant's quality standards and presentation guidelines.
- Assist in training new kitchen staff or dietary aides as needed to promote a cohesive team environment.
- Participate in ongoing training related to food safety, culinary techniques, and industry best practices.
- Contribute ideas for menu enhancements based on current trends and customer preferences.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or a similar role within a restaurant or food service environment.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and proper handling procedures.
- Demonstrated culinary experience with a focus on fine dining or upscale cuisine preferred.
- Excellent knife skills and proficiency in various cooking techniques.
- Experience with menu planning, meal preparation, and catering is highly desirable.
- Background in dietary department or dietary aide experience is a plus.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and ability to work well within a team-oriented environment.
