Job Summary

This vacancy is being announced at both the Clinical Program Therapist 3 - Mental Health and Clinical Program Therapist 4 job classification levels. The classification level in which the position is filled will be determined based on the qualifications of the applicant who is selected for the position.

A Clinical Program Therapist 3 will provide advanced direct clinical mental health services to incarcerated individuals within DOC facilities, under clinical supervision. The incumbent can perform assessments, including diagnostic assessments, therapeutic interventions, and treatment planning of incarcerated persons.

A Clinical Program Therapist 4 will provide direct licensed independent clinical behavioral health professional services and consultation in a state correctional facility. Provides assessment and treatment of incarcerated individuals with mental health issues in a correctional environment.

Work is in a Minnesota Correctional Facility (MCF) Moose Lake with incarcerated individuals.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

To be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet all the minimum qualifications listed below. Clinical Program Therapist 3

  • License eligible* master's degree or higher in Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family, Counseling, or a related Behavioral Health/Science program.
  • One year of experience providing mental health clinical services, including individual and group therapy.
  • Demonstrated expertise in mental health diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment.

(*Eligible for licensure in Minnesota as a Mental Health Professional as defined by Minnesota Statute subd. 18, clause 1-6. Applicants may be required to provide documentation of license eligibility.)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of professional, legal, and ethical standards; best practices; and community standards of care.
  • Skills in verbal and written communication, including proficient documentation skills.
  • Interpersonal/human relations skills.
  • Basic personal computer skills.
  • Ability to formulate and implement an individualized treatment plan; provide mental health treatment; and develop a continuing care plan under limited supervision.
  • Ability to teach a psycho-educational course; effectively function within a multidisciplinary team; exercise sound judgement; demonstrate appropriate professional boundaries; and temporarily manage daily program operations.
Clinical Program Therapist 4

To qualify for a Clinical Program Therapist 4, applicants must meet the following qualifications:

Current Minnesota licensure as a Mental Health Professional (e.g., LICSW, LP, LPCC, and LMFT) as defined by Minnesota Statute subd. 18, clause 1-6.(NOTE: Applicants that are within one year of educational requirements for licensure maybe considered for a provisional appointment until fully licensed.)

In addition to the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the Clinical Program Therapist 3 - Mental Health, applicants who meet the qualifications for the Clinical Program Therapist 4 will be further evaluated on the following:

  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Ability to provide clinical supervision to other behavioral health staff.
  • Ability to independently formulate and implement an individualized treatment plan; provide behavioral health treatment and clinical supervision; and develop a continuing care plan.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current Minnesota licensure as a Mental Health Professional.
  • Experience providing clinical supervision to other behavioral health staff.
  • Experience working in a correctional/secured environment.
  • One year experience post-master's degree or higher (as defined above) providing mental health clinical services.
  • Experience treating clients with co-occurring disorders.
  • Experience providing services to clients diagnosed with serious and persistent mental illness (SPMI).

Additional Requirements

The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections' policy. Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check which includes successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation.

Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections' policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.
