What you can expect as the Senior Product Manager at Fortress…
The Senior Product Manager is responsible for leading product strategy and executing on products supporting the Department of War. The role will focus on defining the long-term vision for capabilities that enhance military readiness, strengthen operational resilience, and improve decision-making across defense environments. The Senior Product Manager will collaborate with engineering, design, data science, solution engineering, and federal stakeholders to deliver products that meet stringent government standards for performance, compliance, and cybersecurity.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead the product vision and roadmap for capabilities supporting Department of War, ensuring alignment with operational needs and evolving defense priorities
  • Convert user insights, field requirements, and program objectives into clear product direction and measurable outcomes
  • Partner with engineering, design, and data teams to deliver secure, reliable, and high-quality products optimized for mission use
  • Oversee the product lifecycle to ensure ongoing reliability, sustainment, and continuous improvement across mission-critical capabilities.
  • Define success metrics, analyze performance, and refine product decisions based on data, user feedback, and mission impact
  • Communicate progress and strategic recommendations to executives and government stakeholders while representing the voice of military users across the organization

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of product management (or equivalent) experience, ideally with complex enterprise or government-facing products
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach
  • Excellent leadership and communication abilities, with experience influencing cross-functional teams
  • Ability to understand DoD mission needs, acquisition processes, and technical requirements. Includes familiarity with FAR/DFARS, compliance frameworks (NIST, CMMC), program offices, and how federal contract vehicles operate
  • Technical fluency (APIs, AI/ML, data models, architecture, scaling) and comfort working closely with engineering
  • Customer-obsessed approach with experience gathering insights through interviews, research, and usability testing, especially with high-stakes user groups
  • Familiarity with agile/lean methodologies and modern product development practices
  • Active clearance preferred; ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance (required)

Preferred Skills:

  • Prior experience working within federal, defense, or high-growth technology environments
  • Experience with AI/ML features, data-driven products, or platform ecosystems.
  • Experience with Jira, Looker, MongoDB, Postgres, Aha, etc.
  • Previous startup-scale or high-growth company experience

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, information technology, supply chain, business administration or equivalent professional work experience required.
