The North Carolina State Highway Patrol's primary mission is to reduce collisions and make the highways of North Carolina as safe as possible. The NCSHP has more than 1,600 troopers who cover nearly 80,000 miles of North Carolina roadways, more than any other state except Texas. In addition to enforcing the state's traffic laws, state troopers also guide traffic during hurricane evacuations, re-route traffic around hazardous chemical spills, and they stand ready should any act of terrorism occur. Description of Work
The NC State Highway Patrol is seeking an enthusiastic team member to join our team as an Administrative Specialist. The Administrative Specialist provides administrative support to the Field Operations-Investigative Services Unit section.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Grade: NC Salary Range: $37,782-$51,951

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provides administrative support to management and staff.
- Facilitates and promotes key office operations.
- Promotes compliance of rules and regulations governing vehicle dealers, vehicle safety, and emissions inspection stations and vehicle repair businesses.
Position/Physical Requirements:
- Typical work schedule: Monday-Friday; 8:00am-5:00pm

Management Prefers:
- Demonstrated experience understanding and awareness of program services, polices, and procedures.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating and communicating information to internal/external partners through use of electronic and telephone resources
- Demonstrated knowledge of data collection and storage to compile, assimilate, and organize printed and electronic information.
- Proficiency experience using office equipment and other relevant technology/software.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.

High school diploma
OR
General Educational Development (GED) diploma
AND
two years of related administrative experience;
OR
equivalent combination of education and experience.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol's Investigative Services Unit works to prevent auto theft, enforces rules for automobile dealerships and inspection stations, and protects citizens against different types of fraud.
