Schedule: Monday–Friday, 4x10-hour shifts (schedule posted 3 months in advance)

Position Overview

The Sonographer III provides high-quality patient care while performing diagnostic sonographic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention. This role requires advanced technical skills, strong organizational abilities, and a commitment to compassionate care.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
  • Act as sonography section leader, representing ultrasonography to Imaging Services Manager for equipment, technical, and personnel considerations
  • Work closely with radiologists to perform diagnostic sonographic exams
  • Exercise professional judgment and maintain a demeanor complimentary to quality care
  • Deliver appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures
  • Comply with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality
  • Assess patient's physical condition and age-specific needs
  • Provide clear instructions to achieve patient cooperation and desired results
  • Perform proper patient identification, acquire clinical history, and ensure accurate documentation
  • Position patient and equipment to achieve high-quality images for interpretation
  • Assess diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification
  • Comply with Quality Control standards and participate in QC tasks
  • Administer medical aid in emergency situations
  • Assist in supervising student sonographers and training new team members
Qualifications
Education & Training
  • Graduate of an accredited school of sonography
  • Meets American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) eligibility guidelines

Licensure/Certification
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) through ARDMS
  • Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification
  • Maintains RDMS physics registry and three ARDMS registries

Experience
  • Minimum 2 years of sonography experience
  • Knowledge of routine ultrasound procedures, including invasive procedures such as:
    • Biopsies
    • Amniocentesis
    • Thoracentesis
    • Breast cyst aspiration
    • Breast localization
  • Familiarity with Doppler, 3D/4D, and pediatric sonography
