Service Technician

Location: Downey

Pay Range: $24.00 – $38.00 per hour (based on experience and certification tier)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. (occasional overtime and travel required to client sites)

Sunset Vans, one of the largest mobility vehicle manufacturers in the United States, is seeking a skilled and motivated Service Technician to join our growing production team. This role is key to ensuring continuous quality improvement and operational excellence across our production facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Arrive on time daily, prepared to contribute and work collaboratively with the team.
• Maintain all required Sunset Vans and manufacturer certifications necessary to service and repair Lifts and Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles (WAVs).
• Follow all shop, safety, and manufacturer guidelines for repairs and maintenance.
• Communicate effectively with Service Advisors and the Service Manager regarding current and upcoming shop work.
• Coordinate with the Service Advisor on both in-shop and mobile service jobs, including customer-site repairs.
• Perform mobile service as needed, including occasional overnight travel to meet customer demands.
• Document all repair findings, conditions, recommendations, and completed work accurately.
• Keep work areas clean, safe, and organized at all times.
• Conduct weekly self-audits with the Service Advisor to verify flagged hours and work progress.
• Discuss potential new tools, certifications, and process improvements with the Service Manager.
• Support monthly inventory reconciliation and maintain all shop tools and equipment.
• Adapt to evolving shop needs. Flexibility to work overtime or travel will be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Mechanical and electrical knowledge to include but not limited to welding, wiring, and automotive troubleshooting
• Experience in mobility service, vehicle modification, or lift installation
• Relevant ASE certifications

Compensation & Advancement

Starting pay typically begins at $24/hour, with higher starting rates available for candidates with relevant ASE training or experience.

Technicians progress through a five-tier system based on certifications and performance, with opportunities to earn up to $38/hour plus commission.

Additional Information

• Travel to customer locations, including out-of-state, may occasionally be required.
