Job Description:
Teacher Assistant

Teacher Assistants are responsible to the Teacher, to the Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction and ultimately to the Director, or in their absence, to the CDC Charge Person.
Teacher Assistants are responsible for classroom, children, and parent communication.

Minimum Requirements

· Must be at least 18 years of age

· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

· Must have High School or equivalency diploma

Preferred Qualifications

· High School Diploma or equivalent

· Training in early childhood education and/or previous working with children in a developmental program

· Personal qualities: professional, organized, ethical, love for children

General Responsibilities

1. Maintain prompt hours; notify Director in event of illness

2. Maintain neat and clean appearance

3. Work with all other staff members in a cooperative manner

4. Attend staff meetings; attend in-service training whenever possible. Keep current in developments in the field of Early Childhood Education

5. Follow personal policies of Lord of Life

6. Assist in other classrooms assigned

7. Practice confidentiality regarding: providing discretion to individual children and their families, the business of Lord of Life and each other

8. Assist in writing newsletters as needed

9. Participate and attend Center events and fundraisers

Classroom Responsibilities

1. Assist teacher in providing early childhood education experiences for the children with a variety of materials in the fields of art, music, literature, science, mathematics, etc.

2. Assist in promoting and supervising activities which promote the healthy emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development of each child

3. Assist in the arrangement and upkeep of classrooms; take responsibility for upkeep of all equipment and all materials. Disinfect equipment daily

4. Report problems of child or room management to the Teacher of Director promptly

5. Eat all meals with children and assist in the development of good nutritional habits

6. Help children establish good habits of toileting and personal hygiene

7. Work with parents whenever possible to promote understanding. Encourage parent participation in school programs; be available for parent conferences when needed

8. Assist in supervising all activities to ensure safety of each child at all times.

Pay: $ $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 40.0 per week
