Associate / Counsel – Insurance Defense

New York, NY (Hybrid – 2–3 days in office)

A well-established and nationally recognized insurance defense firm is seeking talented
Associates and Counsel
to join its growing
New York team
. This is a growth-driven, full-time opportunity within a stable, collaborative environment known for its strong team culture and long-term career development.

About the Role:

You'll work on high-exposure insurance defense matters, including
general liability and premises liability claims
, many involving
claims exceeding $1M
. The role offers significant client contact and opportunities to handle complex files independently while collaborating closely with a highly respected team of litigators.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a diverse caseload of insurance defense matters from inception to resolution
• Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery responses; conduct depositions and court appearances
• Work closely with senior attorneys and clients on strategy and case management
• Maintain a strong focus on quality work product and efficient billing
• Other areas include: Personal Injury, Commercial Litigation, Civil Litigation

Qualifications:

• Admitted to the New York Bar
  (active status required; additional state licenses a plus)
• 3–8 years of insurance defense experience
  in the New York market
• 3–8 years = Associate level
• 8+ years = Senior Counsel level
• Solid background in
  general liability and premises liability
  defense
• Strong writing, analytical, and client communication skills
• Proven ability to manage deadlines and bill efficiently (target:
  1,920 hours annually
  )

Compensation & Benefits:

• Competitive salary (commensurate with experience and discussed individually following interview) $120k-$190k Attorneys; $190k+ Counsel
• Bonus structure:
• $10,000 bonus at 2,000 billable hours
• Additional
  $7,500
  for each 100-hour increment thereafter
