Position Overview:

The Scheduler supervises the scheduling process to ensure consistent nursing staffing in the facility, and meet the state and federal regulations regarding nursing/resident ratio.

  • Assist with staffing schedule operations for the nursing department.
  • Help monitor and log call offs.
  • Support finding coverage to maintain the staffing schedule over multiple shifts.
  • Assist in maintaining an accurate system for tracking staff.
  • Coordinate staff as directed to meet the organization's requirements.
  • Help monitor overtime accumulation and attendance of employees.
  • Assist in maintaining schedules for rotating staff.
  • Key information into computer systems as directed.
  • Support securing coverage for vacancy shifts.
  • Work with the payroll coordinator to verify payroll accuracy as needed.
  • Promote an acceptable standard of nursing practice and professional decorum.
  • Participate in facility committees or conferences as directed by the Administrator.
  • Communicate courteously and cooperatively with all facility personnel, residents, and the public.
  • Promote and maintain good public relations on behalf of the facility.
  • Assist in responding appropriately to emergencies and disaster situations.

Qualifications:

  • High School graduate or better; CNA certification preferred
  • Experience in long-term care and prior scheduling experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of nursing operations and staffing practices in a skilled nursing setting.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general office equipment.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to work cooperatively with staff, residents, and families.
  • Detail-oriented and able to follow instructions accurately.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and fast-paced environments.
