Position Overview:
We're seeking an experienced Data Architect to design and oversee the structure, governance, and scalability of NEXGEN's data ecosystem. In this role, you'll develop best practices for data storage, lineage, and documentation to ensure accuracy, security, and performance across all data assets.
You'll collaborate closely with the data and product teams to make architectural decisions about how and where data is stored, ensuring consistent standards and long-term scalability. If you're passionate about data governance, architecture design, and enabling reliable analytics infrastructure, this position offers the opportunity to shape the foundation of NEXGEN's data strategy.
You'll report to the AI Product Manager and play a pivotal role in advancing NEXGEN's enterprise data capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Architecture Design: Define and maintain data structures, ensuring scalability, governance, and consistency across systems.
- Documentation: Document the data warehouse in data dictionaries and technical knowledge bases for internal and client use.
- Data Strategy: Make architectural decisions about data storage locations, formats, and long-term strategies.
- Governance: Establish policies to ensure data accuracy, structure consistency, and compliance with privacy and security standards.
- Retention & Archival: Set data retention and archival policies, including how long to retain data and when to purge.
- Lineage Tracking: Establish and maintain data lineage to ensure transparency across data flows.
- Access Control: Define data access roles and permissions to safeguard sensitive information.
- UDF Management: Determine best practices for storing and managing user-defined fields (UDFs) in the data warehouse.
- Historical Accuracy: Ensure historical data is preserved, traceable, and accurately maintained.
What We're Looking For:
- Education: Master's degree (will consider Bachelor's degree) in Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience: Proven experience in data architecture, schema design, and database modeling for enterprise-scale environments.
- Data Skills: Expertise in data governance, lineage tracking, and best practices for retention, archival, and security.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Database Modeling, Schema Design, SQL, NoSQL, Data Security, and familiarity with Big Data technologies and cloud platforms.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, effective collaboration, and excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Location:
Sacramento, CA (in-office 4 days per week, 1 remote day per week)
Compensation:
$120,000 - $125,000 depending on related education and experience
