Job Title: Front Desk Client Support Associate (CSA)

Program: North A Street Campus

Reports To: CSA Supervisor or Campus Director

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Revision Date: November 2025

Shift: Saturday and Sunday 1pm-9pm

Summary: Working as part of a team, CSAs will monitor and direct the clients in all areas of the campus. They will be assigned to the front desk and basic cleaning maintenance, but will be cross-trained with the campus monitor. CSAs are responsible for keeping safety watch, day and night, and performing conflict resolution should issues arise. The FSC shelter is for adults 18 and over and the CSA staff will work mainly in the services building next to the shelter. Both sites have opportunities for advancement if a staff member is interested.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Specific duties may vary based on the shift. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Greet clients and professional partners as they enter the lobby.
  • Monitor and facilitate the transition of guests from the lobby to case manager appointments, meetings and/or groups.
  • Answer the phone and direct callers to the appropriate resources or information.
  • Keep safety watch during shift and utilize conflict resolution should issues requiring intervention arise.
  • Assist guests when needed and provide information for local resources.
  • Track data for cell phone charging and bathroom usage.
  • Input data into spreadsheets and file paperwork.
  • Performs facility cleaning and organizing.
  • Call 911 or Alpha One when needed and remain calm during emergencies.
  • Escalate to Management's attention any observed or suspected abuse and/or neglect of children, disabled individuals, dependent adults and elder/senior citizens.
  • Help clients deposit and collect cell phones for charge.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.
  • Ability to get along and work effectively with others.
  • Ability to use a computer, internet, and Microsoft office.
  • Ability to use a walkie talkie radio.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory duties.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma and one to three months related experience and/or training. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field is preferred.

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of a computer or tablet, and accompanying applications and software. Knowledge of basic office equipment should include: Internet and email, copy and fax machines, and telephone.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: A current CA driver's license and proof of auto insurance are required.

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Understanding of the homeless population and their unique needs.
  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to exercise extreme patience.
  • Must be comfortable working with people and flexible in unpredictable environments.
  • Ability to think quickly and respond calmly to stressful/ emergency situations.
