Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical expertise across various specialties, including acute care, geriatrics, pediatrics, and behavioral health. This role involves providing comprehensive patient assessments, managing complex medical conditions, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in outpatient and inpatient settings. Experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, and eClinicalWorks is essential. The Nurse Practitioner will deliver high-quality care utilizing advanced procedures such as suturing, IV infusion, catheterization, and dermal fillers, while adhering to HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards. Duties
- Conduct thorough physical examinations and patient assessments, including vital signs, anatomy knowledge, and physiology evaluation.
- Manage acute and chronic conditions such as acute pain, infectious diseases, geriatrics, pediatrics, hospice & palliative medicine, and behavioral health issues.
- Perform advanced procedures including suturing, IV insertion and infusion, catheterization, spinal tap, gastrostomy tube feeding, and dermal fillers.
- Utilize EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, and eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation and record keeping.
- Coordinate discharge planning, case management, utilization review, and outpatient/inpatient care strategies.
- Provide telehealth services with experience in telemedicine platforms to extend patient access.
- Assist in diagnostic evaluation through laboratory experience and medical imaging interpretation.
- Engage in health coaching and patient education on topics such as family planning, nutrition, memory care (Alzheimer's & dementia), and post-acute care planning.
- Manage medication administration including injections and CPT coding for billing purposes.
- Ensure infection control practices using aseptic techniques during sterile processing procedures.
- Work with diverse populations including neonatal ventilator management (NICU), PICU care, neonatal care, working with people with disabilities or developmental disabilities.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA standards while handling sensitive patient information.
Skills
- Extensive clinical experience across multiple specialties: emergency medicine (ER experience), ICU/Level II Trauma Center experience, hospital medicine (including surgical units), outpatient clinics (urgent care), internal medicine, pediatrics (including toddler & neonatal care), geriatrics (memory & Alzheimer's care), hospice & palliative medicine.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner (Cerner), Athenahealth (Athena), eClinicalWorks (eCW).
- Skilled in performing advanced procedures: suturing, venipuncture/Phlebotomy, sterile processing techniques.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology related to cardiology (cardiac catheterization), ophthalmology (ophthalmology procedures), respiratory management (ventilators), and infectious disease protocols.
- Ability to perform diagnostic evaluations using laboratory testing and medical imaging; familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10).
- Experience managing complex cases involving trauma (Level I & II Trauma Center experience), spinal taps, tube feeding management.
- Competence in pain management strategies including acute pain management techniques; familiarity with psychopharmacology for behavioral health issues.
- Excellent communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration; understanding of Workers' Compensation law is a plus.
- Knowledge of healthcare compliance standards such as NCQA standards; ability to work effectively within hospital settings or outpatient clinics.
