Job Summary/Overview:
The Development & Grants Associate plays a key role in supporting the organization's fundraising, grant writing, and donor stewardship efforts. This position works closely with the Chief Advancement Officer to implement development strategies that grow philanthropic support, strengthen donor relationships, and secure grant funding. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and a strong writer with a passion for mission-driven work.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Research grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
· Write clear, compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and stewardship reports.
· Prepare required attachments, and supporting materials for submissions.
· Work closely with the Accounting Manager to create grant budgets.
· Track deadlines, reporting requirements, and grant outcomes; maintain an updated grants calendar.
· Ensure compliance with all grant requirements and restrictions.
· Support stewardship activities such as thank-you letters, donor updates, and recognition efforts.
· Assist with donor communications, including newsletters, appeals, and impact reports.
· Maintain accurate donor information, giving histories, and touchpoints in the CRM database.
· Assist with planning and executing fundraising and cultivation events.
· Coordinate event logistics such as guest lists, sponsorship tracking, vendor communications, and donor follow-up.
· Represent the organization at community events as needed.
· Works within our Donor Perfect system and assists with Data entry to Donor Perfect
· Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Four-year degree or higher in any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience. Supplemental coursework in business, development, fundraising, and/or grant writing. Responsible experience in development, administration, and/or education.
Desirable Knowledge/Skills/Attributes:
· Ability to help develop and implement creative marketing and fundraising strategies to advance the Museum's profile in the community.
· Excellent planning and organizational skills
· Excellent written and oral skills (writing/spelling/vocabulary)
· Good communication skills in garnering/maintaining support from community, business, and political leaders
· Ease with numbers (costs/hours/budgets)
· Ability to work with all departments within the organization
· Ability to see the big picture
· Knowledge of nonprofit management, especially museums
· Strong computer skills
Pay: $43, $45,000.00 per year
