Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to lead our store. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive management experience in the retail industry, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. This role involves overseeing daily operations, managing staff, and maintaining profitable margins.
Duties
- Oversee daily operations, including opening and closing the store, point-of-sale transactions, watching margins and market prices
- Manage staff recruitment, training, development, and performance evaluations to foster a high-performing team
- Ensure adherence to work safety standards and proper safety procedures
- Oversee POS systems such as Spruce POS for accurate cash handling and sales tracking
- Maintain high levels of customer service by addressing customer concerns promptly and professionally
- Implement operational policies to optimize efficiency and profitability
- Coordinate staff to ensure smooth service flow during all operating hours
- Conduct interviews and select qualified candidates for various roles
- Monitor budgeting processes and control expenses to meet financial goals
- Bids for construction projects
Qualifications
- Proven management experience in the retail service industry, including retail management or hospitality management roles
- Extensive knowledge of hardware and building materials
- Hands-on experience with POS systems
- Strong background in inventory control, budgeting, and cost analysis
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience supervising teams in fast-paced environments
- Excellent customer service skills with a focus on hospitality excellence
- Experience with shift management, staff interviewing, training & development programs
- Background in construction would be beneficial
- Previous experience managing hardware store preferred
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a high-volume setting
