Job Overview - We are seeking a skilled and experienced Upholstery Shop Foreman to oversee daily operations within our manufacturing and fabrication facility. The ideal candidate will lead a team of workers, ensure safety and quality standards are met, and coordinate various projects involving upholstery, wood and metal working, and furniture assembly. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of shop personnel engaged in fabrication, machining, assembly, and construction tasks.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications.
- Oversee the operation of power tools, forklifts, sewing machines, and hand tools.
- Conduct quality inspections using calipers and other measurement tools to maintain high standards.
- Manage inventory of materials and supplies needed for production processes.
- Train team members on proper use of equipment and safety procedures.
- Collaborate with management to plan workflow schedules and prioritize projects.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment adhering to safety regulations.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues with equipment such sewing machines or woodworking tools.
- Perform heavy lifting as required for material handling and assembly tasks.
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to manufacturing equipment, power tools, and hand tools.
- Experience with woodworking, millwork, fabrication, machining, and garment construction is highly desirable.
- Ability to operate forklifts safely and efficiently; warehouse experience is a plus.
- Skilled in using calipers for precise measurements and quality control.
- Knowledge of sewing machines and garment construction processes is advantageous.
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing teams in a manufacturing or construction setting.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work in physically demanding environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues quickly.
- Familiarity with assembly processes and the use of various hand tools for fabrication projects. Pay: $ $29.96 per hour
