POSITION PURPOSE

The Equipment Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a variety of heavy construction equipment used on job sites. This role involves ensuring machinery operates efficiently and safely to meet project demands. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, experience working with heavy equipment, and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems under minimal supervision. The majority of their tasks require physical labor in an outdoor environment.

Essential Job Functions

Equipment Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on heavy equipment such as excavators, skid steers, forklifts, cranes, pumps, and other construction machinery to ensure optimal performance.

Troubleshooting and Diagnostics: Identify mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic system issues using diagnostic tools and technical expertise. Develop and execute repair plans efficiently.

Parts and Inventory Management: Assess parts requirements for repairs, coordinate with the parts department or suppliers, and maintain adequate inventory levels.

Safety and Compliance: Follow all safety regulations, OSHA standards, and company policies during repairs and equipment operation. Ensure all work is performed with a focus on safety and quality.

Record Keeping: Maintain detailed internal repair orders and documentation for all equipment repairs and maintenance performed. Report findings and recommendations to supervisors and project management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED preferred with three (3) years of equipment repair experience. May be required to retain a valid DOT medical card.
