Job Description
As a Project Architect, you will contribute to the design and development of various types of architectural projects, from conceptual stages to detailed design. You will work closely with team members, collaborating with clients, architects, engineers, and other consultants. The role requires a combination of creative design thinking, technical proficiency, and an understanding of building codes and construction methods. You will also perform work on smaller projects often independently and assist in larger, more complex projects as part of a team.
Primary Job Responsibilities anticipated:
- Assist in the development of architectural designs from initial concepts through to construction documentation.
- Prepare and assist in presenting design concepts, including plans and sketches, 3D models using industry-standard software (e.g. AutoCAD, SketchUp, Enscape, Blue beam, Revit, etc).
- Collaborate with design team to refine designs and meet client expectations.
- Produce accurate architectural drawings using industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
- Collaborate with Spec writer to ensure project elements are covered by specifications.
- Produce or adjust limited technical specifications when small projects require quick attention.
- Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, zoning laws, and regulations.
- Attend client meetings and assist in communication between the design team and clients.
- Stay up-to-date with current architectural trends, materials, and technologies.
- Conduct research to resolve technical issues and integrate new solutions into the design process.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including architects, engineers, and consultants, internal and external, to ensure successful project execution.
- Provide support in coordination meetings, presenting design ideas and addressing feedback.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture
- Other miscellaneous tasks, as needed by various project requirements.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working independently, with a high level of initiative.
Required Qualifications
- 8 years minimum of experience providing architectural design and construction document preparation and comprehensive construction administration as part of a professional architecture/engineering firm.
- Architecture degree from an accredited US Architectural Program
- Proficiency in AutoCAD required, Revit and rendering programs a plus
- Licensure in Illinois or other states is a plus
- NCARB Certification is a plus
- Must be able to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects across different regions
Working Conditions:
Casual office environment with occasional site visits.
Collaborative team environment working with mechanical & electrical engineers, architects, structural engineers.
Client-facing role with opportunities for business development and expanding client relationships.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $70k - $105k per year, plus a comprehensive benefits package. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's experience, qualifications, and skills. This is a good faith estimate and subject to negotiation. Other compensation will include continuing ed and professional fee coverage, discretionary bonuses and safe-harbor 401K contributions.
