Customs Broker Manager
As the Customs Broker Manager, you will oversee all customs-related activities for the import and export of perishable and temperature-controlled cargo. This leadership role requires deep expertise in U.S. customs regulations, strong operational management skills, and experience in freight forwarding and logistics. You will collaborate closely with the airfreight, warehouse, and commercial teams to ensure compliance, streamline processes, and deliver exceptional service to our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise customs operations, including import and export clearance for perishable cargo.
- Ensure compliance with CBP, FDA, USDA, TSA, and other U.S. regulatory agencies.
- Maintain current knowledge of customs laws, tariffs, and industry standards.
- Prepare and file customs documentation, including entry summaries, invoices, and certificates of origin.
- Resolve issues related to customs holds, delays, or non-compliance in a timely manner.
- Facilitate accurate customs entries, duty payments, and tariff classifications.
- Conduct internal audits to ensure adherence to customs procedures.
- Collaborate with airfreight and warehouse operations to coordinate seamless shipment handling.
- Maintain strong relationships with customs officials, regulatory bodies, and key stakeholders.
- Anticipate and mitigate customs-related risks, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
- Generate reports on customs activities, clearance times, and compliance performance.
- Maintain complete and accurate records for audits and compliance reviews.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, International Trade, Business Administration, or related field.
- Active U.S. Customs Broker License (mandatory).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in customs management, preferably within perishables or temperature-controlled freight forwarding.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. import/export regulations and customs clearance processes.
- Proven leadership and team management experience.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across teams and with clients.
- Proficiency in English (Spanish is a plus).
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual Salary: $95,000 – $115,000 (USD).
